What Have I Become?!

My children [who do not read this] would be horrified at my taking on attributes of their Grandmother.  However, what is one to do when reared with the conviction that wasting food is wrong.  The pictured veggies were all in the garbage -on the selling floor- at my local corner high end grocery store.  I was compelled to ask if I could remove them from the trash [the items other than the pots], which I did. By their glances and stares at me, I am certain the young male employees, thought I was nuts;, eccentric at best;  one of  those little old ladies!  The part of me that watches me, felt I was walking a thin edge of sanity,   Can you toss away apples that make up into applesauce when they retail at $5.++ a pound?  Or the tops of beets, which in this store have no retail value whatsoever. This store is careless with their pricing, they do not repackage the items below because they are 1. believing it doesn’t matter as they are in a high-end neighborhood and there is no need to repackage. 2. ignorance. I believe there are pensioners, or other old people who would buy these at a reduced price.  This and a number of other ‘problems’ with the store, to which I have given my attention, [such as: one quart of goat’s milk -$4.99; a half gallon-$10.65]  are nagging at me to do something more.  Maybe I will offer them to be quality control for a few hours per week.
