Enough Already?

Still working to get-a-handle on the flour types. Ordered directly from a mill that grinds the grain on course stones. The order: French flour, German flour, flour mix for Abdijbread, and coarse flour for bread. If that wasn’t enough,

from another mill: 3 grinds of flour, including spelt and from the market Italian flour. In the tall glass container, just average do-it-yourself flour. Don’t know if I’m there yet, but I’m closer.

Foelie

This is a ‘who knew’! The nutmeg seed is a known spice to me, often grating it for extra flavor in all sorts of recipes. One day,’foelie’ jumped off the shelf. This spice is wonderfully soft in flavor-delicious in soup. Foelie is the membrane that surrounds the nutmeg seed, it is removed, dried and sold as is.

Sarah

The woman in this house is having her 50th birthday. All the world knows she has met Sarah. This is the biblical Sarah, the wife of Abraham. When a man hits 50 he meets indeed, Abraham. In former days both men and woman ‘met Abraham’ but someone in the 1960’s decided women deserved their own gender for the celebration.

The concept is based on the bible verse: John 8:57, NLT: “The people said, ‘You aren’t even fifty years old. How can you say you have seen Abraham?'” as if this explains it. Not. You need to have the verse prior which is: John 8:56, NLT: “Your father Abraham rejoiced as he looked forward to my coming. He saw it and was glad.'” In other words, whomever Jesus was addressing was not impressed because he, Jesus, had not yet reached 50 and so could not have met Abraham and known the prophecy. A bit convoluted for my taste, but there you have it. This was at my neighbor’s door – the cat owner – as a surprise by her daughters. She was delighted.

…Had a Dream…

Before consigning this to trash as ‘she’s lost it now’, give a read. The answer to the dream of which I will spare you the details is: do you have a copy of every document that you carry with you in your wallet/billfold/purse? Should you misplace it, in one way or another, can you replicate the contents? Might want to give thought to making a copy – easily done on your printer – and filing it away.

US/WE

But there is a positive side to the bulb plantings by them. After the bulbs, in all their splendor have bloomed on my kitchen windowsill I remove the bulbs from the pots and plant the bulbs in the back garden. This is the beginnings of the result this year. Figuring I have likely planted 30 pots.. it should, in the Spring, be a virtual carpet! Will keep you posted.

Fire

This little fire/flame is wondrously cozy when it is ice and snow outside. The most amazing aspect is the fuel on which burns. Bio-ethanol.

What are the benefits of Bioethanol?

Bio-ethanol has a number of advantages over conventional fuels. It comes from a renewable resource i.e. crops such as cereals, sugar beet and maize and not from a finite resource. Another benefit over fossil fuels is the greenhouse gas emissions. Through the use of bio-ethanol, emissions will be reduced as the fuel crops absorb the CO2 they emit through growing. By encouraging bio-ethanol’s use, rural economies would receive a boost from growing the necessary crops. Bio-ethanol is also biodegradable and far less toxic that fossil fuels. In the petite fireplace it produces heat without the need of a flue. Win-win.
