…well I am quite at a loss for words.  Harry Reid, apparently said, according to the Huffington Post, “We will not go to conference with a gun to our heads”.  The link below is his stance on guns in society.  Well, you allow em and they get used on ya..  Anyone else see a disconnect here or is it just me?

These images always catch my breath, as this is how closely the subway cars pass each other in the tunnels.  You are seeing the #2 line with persons riding, as you are seated in a car on the #1 line.  They can be speeding at 40 – 50 miles per hour.

Perhaps it is the same in other cities, but I find these double length crosstown busses, incredibly long.  And this picture is Not from the back of the bus…

The fat little white tire man has spoken:  here is an “A” list for your next trip to the City.  The best restaurants of value- that means 2 courses plus a glass of wine for $40. or less plus [and this is what skews the entire equation] tax and tip.  There you go.

Worth noting:  when approaching the subway, you have to identify your direction, uptown or downtown.  This example is the 23rd Street Station of the 6 line.  If you want to go downtown, you have to cross the street and go below on the other corner- the SW corner, as this entrance is on the SE corner.  There are important distinctions.

…30 years ago.  Wanted the ‘chain’ everyday supermarkets to have tables.  Why drag the hungry kids home to feed them groceries purchased right there.  Feed them and take the staples for the rest of the week home.  This is a local City supermarket, a small one in a neighborhood, and look-ee!!

Seated across from me on the subway, a nicely dressed and pleasant looking couple with a [approximate age] 12 year old girl between them. Girl was holding and looking at a large book that included pictures.  Man and woman were having a discussion.  As to the tenor of the conversation, didn’t appear to be either happy or sad, and they were soft enough that I could not gleam the topic of discussion. I watched the girl ‘reading’ the book, to see if she really was or was she listening.  How long would it take her to turn the page, given the page had pictures and words?  She appeared to concentrate on the page but never turned it.  The discussion continued and slowly she began to move ever so slightly in the direction of the male [her father?] until she laid her head on his shoulder.  She kept it there for most of the rest of the trip, as the adults continued their talk.  She finally turned the page.

Not until I find myself on 36th street do I remember that the choice of fabrics for clothing, home and you-name-it, are beyond the imagination.  If one had a sewing machine, the space and the inclination, such as a design student at the School of Design, this is the place to be.  These are silks and not even the tip of the iceberg.  [why these three little photos didn’t form a line?]
