Notice the ‘pile of orange’ in the left bottom of the picture. That is the cuttings of all the flower heads from the stem of the bulb. This is how bulbs are perpetuated. But again, as far as the eye can see
Took a ferry boat to a steam train to travel amongst the bulb fields.
Had time to stop and sit at an outdoor cafe in the center of the City. To my utter surprise, neither of the two waitstaff that served my table, spoke Dutch. Then it was I realized they didn’t have to. Amsterdam is so populated with tourists, they need English speakers, not Dutch. One more loss of a culture in this shrinking-global-world?
Yes this was at Christmas time, but I couldn’t publish it then. How festive is this!
For a country that is typically rainy and wet and seldom has a summer of sunshine, Climate Change has made a huge impact. Every day has sun and the spring already has high temps. Northern parts of the country are suffer drought. Fortunately, the populous is sufficiently educated to address the issues that need to be addressed, come rain or come shine.
