It Seemed Sound

The little ginger pieces, [ I thought they were real ginger], come individually wrapped as small, purple parcels.  While driving, this format is difficult to open, without using one’s teeth.  So prior to setting out,  had the brilliant idea of opening all 25 little packets in advance, putting them in an empty Talenti jar and voila easy trip eating.  Not quite so.  The following morn, the mound I found glued together in the bottom of the container, was not to be pried apart; it was as if each piece had never had a separate identity.  Considered taking a bite, but value my teeth too much to risk.  Oh well. on to the next idea.

An Idiot Move

She said there was a car coming toward her on the residential street and all she could do was hit my mirror.  I was grateful she owned up to it.  My unasked question was, “Why didn’t you stop driving?”.  I had parked with full concentration in this spot. Had moved between three spaces vis-a-vis the driveways and chose this one for the best position.  The car dealer in accessing the damage and making the repairs made an error.  In the end, the dealer had to remove the side mirror from a new car on the lot and replace this with that.  The entire event from inception to finish was idiotic

the tree.  The lights in the fir-tree have been put to rest.  It was such a nightly welcome sight, and I depended on it for the bit of light it gave off in an otherwise back yard space.  The tree is still 90% green, there should be a reward for that kind of tenacity. Presently it stands against the house, but perhaps it would be better served at the base of the trees in the grove of pines.

Dancing Fireflies

Until someone mentioned it to me, I had not known to look for them.  Mid-June at night and the fire flies are dancing about the grass meadows.  It is a sight to behold.  The area from a yard to 3 yards above the ground is alight. It is quite surreal, and beautiful.

Did It Myself

Upon moving in, decided I could not live with these choices of fixtures, so I replaced them with more modern ones.  I wired two, and paid to have the third one done.  But now in reverse, I wired all three myself.  They hang and they light.  Success!

Fun

The yard sale was from arising at 5;30 am until everything was put away at 6:30 pm.  We were a group of seven vendors and an enthusiastic shopping crowd.  You state ‘start at nine,’ they are browsing by 8:30.  My motivation was to see to whom i was giving. That is the FUN part.  To experience someone’s thrill at getting a set of hardly used king sheets [not cotton- micro fiber!] for $1.00 or a jacket that was as good as the day it was gifted 30 years ago, for a second dollar.  Is she going to Ebay the purchases?  Likely, but go for it. She knows where it came from, she has to do all the work and I had the pleasure of seeing her delight at finding such bargains.  The ‘other’ best was the friends who could have what they wanted.   Had they come to my house it would have been theirs for the taking.  They have bits of me now to remember me by.  The day was a sunny summer day, and as I was giving a friend an old market umbrella and stand, I was the only one in the shade and not ‘sun-kissed’ by day’s end  We were a fun motley crew with the most diverse of treasures.  What community spirit! At the end, we did not dump it all at the local second-hand shop where I volunteer, but one of our group took it all home to be used in another sale for the ‘park’ in a couple of weeks.  The best ending ever.
